| Opschrift voorzijde | Holzgutschein der Stadt Bad Wildungen Serie A No.1311 Gegen diesen Gutschein liefert die Stadt Bad Wildungen 1/10 Fm. Buchennußholz mittlerer Güte. Holzgutscheine der Serie A, verlieren am 31. Dezember 1923, mittags 12 Uhr, ihre Gültigkeit. Der Gemeindevorstand kann die Gutscheine der Serie A auch innerhalb der Geltungsdauer mit einwöchiger Frist zur Auflösung aufrufen. Die Scheine verlieren dann am letzten Tage der Frist ihre Gültigkeit. Der Gemeindevorstand kann bestimmen, dass die Einlösung statt Holz in Gold beliebiger Währung erfolgt. Der Fm. Buchennußholz mittlerer Güte wird dann mit 20 Goldmark nach dem letzten amtlichen Kurse des der Zahlung vorausgehenden Tages berechnet. Bad Wildungen, Der Gemeindevorstand: den 5. Bad Wildungen, a spa town in Hesse-Nassau, issued Notgeld extensively during the hyperinflation crisis of 1923. The denomination here — one-tenth of a Festmark in Buchenholz (beechwood) — reflects the bizarre ingenuity of municipal emergency currency during this period: the town literally denominated obligations in cordwood rather than Papiermark, sidestepping the worthless Reich currency entirely by anchoring value to a tangible local commodity.
Paul Pusch was a local printer, and the short production run typical of Buchenholz-denominated issues means surviving examples see real collector interest despite modest face origins.
