Bad Wildungen, a spa town in Hesse-Nassau, issued Notgeld extensively during the hyperinflation crisis of 1923. The denomination here — one-tenth of a Festmark in Buchenholz (beechwood) — reflects the bizarre ingenuity of municipal emergency currency during this period: the town literally denominated obligations in cordwood rather than Papiermark, sidestepping the worthless Reich currency entirely by anchoring value to a tangible local commodity.

Paul Pusch was a local printer, and the short production run typical of Buchenholz-denominated issues means surviving examples see real collector interest despite modest face origins.
