At centre, the Ukrainian state coat of arms — a trident (trizub) set within a shield — is depicted in raised relief, encircled by an ornamental wreath of stylised oak branches bearing leaves and berries. The legend УКРАЇНА arcs along the upper rim in Cyrillic characters, while the denomination 1 МІЛЬЙОН КАРБОВАНЦІВ is inscribed in the lower field. The date 1996 appears above the central shield, and the fineness and weight indicators Ag 925 and 15.55 are incuse below the wreath on either side of the denomination numeral. A beaded inner border frames the decorative composition. |

The reverse features a high-relief depiction of an equestrian statue of Hetman Bohdan Khmelnytsky, shown mounted on a rearing horse atop a stylised stone pedestal rendered in detailed relief. The figure is portrayed in traditional Cossack attire, facing left. The name БОГДАН is inscribed along the left rim and ХМЕЛЬНИЦЬКИЙ along the right rim, both in decorative Cyrillic lettering. The birth and death years 1595 and 1657 are placed in the lower field on either side of a central dot, flanking the base of the pedestal. |
