Oberthur Fiduciaire prints them to the same technical standards as circulating currency, incorporating genuine security features, which has occasionally drawn scrutiny from central banks wary of anything resembling unauthorized euro-format paper.
Zoo Aquarium de Madrid, one of Europe's older combined zoo and aquarium facilities, joined the program sometime in the 2022–2023 window — precise issue dates for individual souvenir sites within the series are rarely documented with the rigor applied to actual banknotes.
