The Viaduc de Millau souvenir zero-euro note belongs to a commercial series that has run since 2015, when La Monnaie de Paris first licensed the format. UECQ operates as a private issuer outside that original licensing arrangement, producing its own collector pieces through Oberthur Fiduciaire — the same security printer responsible for a substantial portion of genuine euro banknote production across multiple eurozone states.
The viaduct itself opened in December 2004, briefly holding the title of tallest vehicular bridge in the world. Designed by Michel Virlogeux and Norman Foster, its tallest pier clears 343 meters — higher than the Eiffel Tower.
