The souvenir 0 euro program, administered through the Collectoys network and printed by Oberthur Fiduciaire, has produced hundreds of regional tourist issues since 2015. These notes carry no legal tender status anywhere — the denomination is purely nominal, and the European Central Bank has never sanctioned their use. They circulate as paid collectibles, typically sold at the attraction itself for a few euros over face value, which in this case is nothing.
The Palais des Rois de Majorque in Perpignan was built in the late 13th century under James II of Majorca, making it one of the few surviving structures from the short-lived Kingdom of Majorca, which existed as a separate entity from the Crown of Aragon between 1276 and 1344.
