The "Objectif Lune" zero euro souvenir note commemorates the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing, issued through the Euro Souvenir program that Oberthur Fiduciaire has dominated since its launch around 2015. These collector pieces carry legal tender status under EU law — a deliberate quirk — despite a face value that makes them economically inert. Oberthur prints them to genuine banknote security specifications, including UV-reactive inks and microprinting, which is what separates them from ordinary novelty items and sustains the secondary market.
