Tajovský (1874–1940) was a Slovak realist writer whose short fiction drew heavily on rural poverty and social injustice in late Habsburg Slovakia — not the most obvious subject for a souvenir banknote. EECB issues are legal-zero-denomination collector items produced under a European Union framework that permits their manufacture provided they carry no face value; Oberthur Fiduciaire prints the series to genuine security-note specifications, complete with the characteristic feel of fiduciary paper. Designer A. Ferda has worked across several issues in this commemorative run.
