The 0 euro souvenir note program, administered through licensed distributors and printed by Oberthur Fiduciaire, has expanded well beyond national institutions into trade associations, regional tourism bodies, and cultural organizations — this issue for the Slovenian Beekeepers' Association sits in that category. Slovenia has a claim to genuine significance in beekeeping history: Anton Janša, an 18th-century Carniolan beekeeper, was appointed the first official teacher of beekeeping at the Habsburg court in Vienna, and the Carniolan honeybee remains one of the most widely exported bee subspecies in the world.
The note has no monetary value and is not legal tender in any jurisdiction.
