Euro Souvenir notes occupy a strange position in modern notaphily — they are genuine banknote-format items produced on certified security paper by licensed currency printers, yet they carry no monetary value and are sold directly to tourists as collectibles. Oberthur Fiduciaire, which prints actual euro notes for the Banque de France, applies the same substrate and printing standards here. The formal production chain is real; only the denomination is fictional.

Boyardville is the main village on the Île d'Oléron's southern tip, best known as the departure point for visiting Fort Boyard — the nineteenth-century sea fortress that became internationally familiar through the French game show of the same name launched in 1990.
