The Carnac alignments issue was produced for on-site sale at one of the most visited prehistoric monuments in Europe, a field of roughly 3,000 standing stones whose arrangement and purpose remain genuinely contested among archaeologists.

Oberthur's involvement gives these notes their odd credibility: watermarks, security thread, intaglio printing — the works, for something worth exactly nothing at any bank.
