Obverse description Draped bust of Artemis Parthenos facing right, her hair elaborately waved and bound with a stephanos; she wears a pendant earring and a beaded necklace. The portrait is rendered in a vigorous archaic-classical style characteristic of Pontic Greek coinage of the early fourth century BC. The hair is depicted in fine parallel ridges radiating from the crown, and the facial features are boldly modelled in high relief.
