| Obverse description | Central double cross with radiating arms extending toward the coin's edge, dividing the field into multiple sections in a wheel-like arrangement. The cross arms terminate in flared, wedge-shaped ends, giving the design a bold Gothic character typical of late 14th-century Tyrolean coinage. The legend LIVPOLDVS runs along the periphery in Gothic Latin lettering, partially visible amid the irregular hammered flan. The die work is characteristic of the Merano mint style, with deeply struck relief and a somewhat crude but vigorous execution. |
