| Obverse description | The entire field is occupied by a multi-line Arabic calligraphic legend in bold thuluth script, reading the royal tughra-style inscription attributing the coin to Sultan Mustafa son of Ahmad Khan with the prayer 'may his reign endure.' The mint name Islambul (Istanbul) and the AH regnal year 1171 appear as integral elements of the field legend. The design is enclosed within a plain inner border and an outer beaded (pearled) border running the full circumference. No figurative imagery is present, consistent with Ottoman Islamic coinage tradition. Weight may vary between 13.5 and 14.7 g; diameter may vary between 35 and 36 mm. |
