Reverse description The reverse presents four lines of bold Arabic inscription arranged within a plain field, enclosed by a granulated rope border. The legend reads the Ottoman imperial titulature identifying Abdul Hamid I as sultan and khagan, son of sultan, in a formal hierarchical style characteristic of Ottoman gold coinage struck at provincial mints. The calligraphy is deeply struck and confident, typical of Egyptian mint production of the period.
