| Beschrijving voorzijde | Central field occupied by the elaborate imperial tughra of Sultan Mahmud I in bold raised relief, its characteristic loop and sweeping horizontal strokes dominating the design. Floral and foliate spray devices embellish the upper register above the tughra. Two lines of Arabic legend appear in the lower field, with the AH regnal year 1143 inscribed at the very base. The entire design is enclosed within a finely milled rope-pattern border. |

| Aanvullende informatie |
Mahmud I's reign (1730–1754) began with the violent suppression of the Patrona Halil rebellion, a janissary-led uprising that had already toppled his predecessor Ahmed III. The Egyptian mint at Misr continued striking gold zaris throughout this political turbulence, functioning as one of the Ottoman empire's most productive provincial mints. KM#90 is among the earlier dateable issues of his reign, struck within the first two years of a reign that would ultimately outlast most of its contemporaries by decades.
