Obverse description Central field bears a two-line Arabic legend in bold naskh script reading 'al-Sultan al-A'zam / Toqta-bek Khan' (the Supreme Sultan, Toqta-bek Khan), proclaiming the authority of the Golden Horde Khan Toqta. The inscription is enclosed within a single circular border composed of raised pellets, a characteristic decorative device of Golden Horde coinage. The flan is irregular and slightly ragged at the edges, consistent with the hammered production technique of the period. The field surface shows light wear and patination typical of a circulated silver dirham.
