| Obverse description | Central field dominated by a large crowned Gothic letter F, the initial of King Filipe (Felipe I of Portugal), surmounted by an open royal crown rendered in relief. Below the crowned F, the denomination mark XXXX is displayed in bold Roman numerals. The entire central device is enclosed within a beaded inner circle. The circumferential legend in Latin runs along the outer border, partially visible due to the irregular flan, reading REX PORTVGALIE D G ET AL. The overall composition is characteristic of late 16th-century Iberian hammered coinage, with the design elements struck in a bold and slightly irregular manner consistent with the period. |
