| Reverse description | The reverse displays a large, boldly struck denomination mark 'XX' in Roman numerals occupying the majority of the field, denoting the coin's value of 20 Réis (one Vintém). The numerals are rendered in a characteristic late 16th-century style with splayed strokes, each character intersecting at center. A circular Latin legend surrounds the denomination mark, reading PORTVGALIE : ALGARB, a reference to the royal titles of Portugal and the Algarve. Pellets and decorative stops punctuate the legend.
