Obverse description The obverse features a central inner circle containing a vignette of a large tree with a water-wheel mill building to its left, above a curved ribbon bearing the legend CHESTNUT COUNTRY and the inscription INCORPORATED / MAY 8, 1722. The outer legend CHESTER above and NEW HAMPSHIRE below runs between two concentric border rings, all printed in black ink on a natural wood field.
