Obverse description Equestrian effigy of Prince Willem IV in military dress and tricorn hat, riding a horse trotting to the right, occupying the central field. The surrounding legend, reading from the bottom in coin alignment, bears his name, titles, and the date of his accession as Stadtholder. A suspension hole is visible at the top rim.

Reverse description Central shield bearing the rampant Dutch lion holding a sword and a bundle of arrows, set within an ornate cartouche with scrollwork. The inner legend running around the lower portion of the shield reads the motto of the United Provinces, while the outer circular legend gives the official titles of Willem IV as Stadtholder, Admiral and Captain General of the Seven Provinces.
