Obverse description The Portuguese royal coat of arms, surmounted by a crown, occupies the central field. The shield displays the characteristic Portuguese armillary sphere and castle motifs in cast relief. The mint letters D and A flank the shield to the left and right respectively, identifying the Damão mint. The entire design is enclosed within a raised circular border.

Reverse description The wheel of Saint Catherine is depicted centrally, rendered with six spokes radiating from a hub, encircled by a dotted inner ring, all set against a plain field. The wheel is surrounded by a serpentine or broken outer decorative border representing the martyrdom instrument. The numeral 5 appears in the outer ring, denoting the denomination of 5 Bazarucos. The entire composition is enclosed within a raised circular rim.
