| Opis awersu | Central device depicting a stylized crowned gateway or tower motif, rendered in low relief within a circular border, consistent with the castle emblem associated with Portuguese Indian coinage of the Baçaim mint. The lower portion of the central device features a grid or lattice pattern, characteristic of the heraldic Portuguese quinas or fortress symbol as adapted for cast colonial coinage. The overall artistic style is bold and schematic, typical of cast copper issues from Portuguese India during the reign of João V. The field is uneven due to the casting technique employed at the Baçaim mint. |
