Obverse description Within a beaded inner circle, the crowned Bohemian lion rampant to left occupies the central field, with the mint mark positioned above the lion within the legend band. A Latin legend encircles the design, commencing at 12 o'clock, bearing the abbreviated royal titles and name of Maximilian II. The heraldic lion is rendered in the characteristic late Renaissance style of Joachimsthal coinage.
