Obverse description Central field displays the crowned Bohemian lion rampant to left, enclosed within a beaded inner circle, with the mint mark of Kuttenberg (Kutná Hora) positioned below the lion within the legend. The peripheral Latin legend commences at 12 o'clock and reads MATTHIAS D G R I S A G H B REX, identifying the ruler as Matthias, by the Grace of God, King of Romans, Hungary, Bohemia, etc.

Reverse description Central motif features a crowned double-headed imperial eagle displayed, bearing on its breast a shield divided with the arms of Austria and ancient Burgundy, all within a beaded inner circle. The imperial crown at the top divides the peripheral Latin legend. The regnal date appears at the end of the legend, varying by year of issue from 1616 to 1619.
