RMK Zenica — Rudnici i Metalurgija Kombinat Zenica — was one of Yugoslavia's largest integrated iron and steel complexes, anchored in the Bosna River valley and central to the self-management economic model that defined SFRY industrial organization. Under that system, large enterprises were subdivided into Basic Organizations of Associated Labour (OOURs), each functioning as a semi-autonomous economic unit. This coupon originates from exactly that structure: the Metal Constructions OOUR within the Metalno work organization.
Meal coupons of this type were a routine feature of Yugoslav factory welfare, issued in lieu of subsidized canteen credits. The "higher value" designation implies a tiered system — at minimum two denominations circulating simultaneously within the same facility.
