Comments

Kolkhoz internal vouchers of this type circulated as surrogate wages within Soviet collective farms during the late 1980s, when chronic shortages of small-denomination cash made direct rouble payment to workers logistically difficult. The farm's accounting office would issue these against earned labor credits — trudodni equivalents — redeemable at the kolkhoz store for goods rather than convertible into state bank currency.

Solonyansky District sits in the steppe agricultural belt of Dnepropetrovsk Oblast, one of Ukraine's most productive grain regions. By 1989, Gorbachev's economic reforms had loosened some central controls without resolving the underlying supply failures, and local scrip like this filled the gap.
