Reverse description Central field features a bold cross pattée with trefoil terminals at each arm, the ends ornamented with pellets arranged in clover-leaf fashion, a design characteristic of Liégeois episcopal small coinage of the early fourteenth century. The cross fills the inner circle and is enclosed within a beaded border. The surrounding peripheral legend in uncial Latin reads ✠ MOnETA AVROTEnSIS, identifying the mint of Avroy. The flan is irregular with a notable flaw at the upper edge, typical of the hammered technique employed at this mint.
