Reverse description Central field displays the Portuguese royal arms — the quintas shield bearing five roundels (quinas) arranged in a cross formation, each roundel charged with small bezants, set within a decorative cartouche and surmounted by a royal crown. The shield is surrounded by a raised linear border with ornamental detailing. A beaded inner circle encloses the armorial device, with the circular Latin legend running along the outer periphery of the flan. The engraving style is consistent with mid-sixteenth-century Portuguese hammered coinage from the Porto mint.
