| Obverse description | Central crowned Austrian shield displayed within a six-lobed cartouche occupying the coin's field, the shield bearing the characteristic Austrian barry fessé. A circular Latin legend surrounds the central device, reading partially NECNON ARCHIDVCES AVS, referencing the Archduke of Austria title. The design is rendered in the bold, somewhat crude style typical of small hammered copper coinage of the late sixteenth and early seventeenth centuries. |

Rudolph II's long neglect of actual governance — he retreated into his Prague court obsessed with alchemy, astrology, and art collecting — left administrative matters like small-denomination coinage largely to regional authorities. The Hall mint in the Inn Valley had been producing small copper for local circulation well before his reign, and continued largely uninterrupted throughout it. These pieces circulated hard in Tyrolean markets and mountain communities, and survivors in anything above heavily worn condition are genuinely scarce.
