| Beschrijving keerzijde | A quartered heraldic shield divided into four quarters bearing, respectively, the double-headed imperial eagle, a barred (fretty) device, the Styrian panther, and a single-headed eagle, all enclosed within a trefoil frame with inserted cusped points. The trefoil is a typical Gothic ornamental border used on late-medieval Austrian regional coinage. A circular legend in uncial Latin characters surrounds the composition, reading +FRIDE`°D`°G`°RO`°IMP`°AEIOV, referencing Emperor Frederick V (Frederick III as Holy Roman Emperor) with the celebrated AEIOV device. The overall design reflects the artistic conventions of the Wiener Neustadt mint during the third quarter of the fifteenth century. |
