Obverse description Displayed imperial eagle with the municipal arms of Colmar emblazoned on its breast, set within a beaded inner circle. The design is rendered in the robust, somewhat crude style typical of mid-16th-century hammered coinage. The surrounding circular legend reads MONETA COLMAR, separated by a floral ornament. The flan is irregular and slightly broader than the die, characteristic of hand-struck issues of this period.
