Obverse description Within a beaded inner circle, the heraldic bear of Bern stands passant to the left, rendered in a bold Gothic style with a highly stylized, pellet-covered body and open mouth. The bear's distinctive raised forepaw and prominent claws are clearly articulated in the die work. Surrounding the inner circle, the peripheral legend in uncial characters reads + MONETA · BERNE, separated by pellet stops, with Gothic trefoil or cross ornaments punctuating the outer field. The overall composition is characteristic of late 14th-century Swiss municipal coinage, with the hammered flan producing a slightly irregular outline.

Reverse description Within a beaded inner circle, a bold pattée cross with a central quatrefoil ornament at its intersection divides the field into four quadrants; three pellets are arranged in a triangular grouping within the upper-right quadrant, serving as a mint or die-control mark characteristic of Bernese medieval coinage. The arms of the cross are broad and slightly concave, consistent with the Gothic style of the period. The peripheral legend in uncial characters reads + S · VINCENCIVS, invoking Saint Vincent of Saragossa, the patron saint of Bern, separated by pellet stops and punctuated with cross ornaments in the outer margin. The hammered technique imparts a characteristic irregularity to the coin's edge.
