Obverse description Two skeletal figures of Death in high relief are depicted bent over a pump set against a desolate battlefield landscape, with graves and debris visible in the field. The circular legend along the rim reads VERDUN·DIE WELTBLUTPUMPE·1916, and a small engraver's monogram appears in the lower right field.
