| Obverse description | Central field dominated by a large Roman numeral V within a plain inner circle, flanked by small decorative elements. Superimposed upon the V is the countermark of António I, applied inverted relative to the host coin's orientation, depicting a goshawk (açor) in relief — the heraldic emblem of the Azores and symbol of António I's claim to the Portuguese throne. A partial circular legend, partially legible, runs along the outer border of the host coin. The coin exhibits the characteristic irregular flan and worn surfaces typical of hammered copper coinage of the period. |
