Beschrijving voorzijde Diademed bust of a long-haired ruler facing left, rendered in a schematic Central Asian style typical of late Kangju coinage. The effigy occupies the central field with the hair depicted in broad striated waves falling to the shoulder. The portrait is somewhat crude in execution, consistent with the provincial hammered bronze issues of the Chach region during the 2nd period of Wanwan coinage.

Aanvullende informatie

The Kangju were a nomadic confederation controlling the middle Syr Darya region for several centuries, and their coinage remains among the least understood in Central Asian numismatics. The "Wanwan" designation comes from Chinese historiographical sources — the Weishu and Beishi record Wanwan as a Kangju ruling clan, though the precise political relationship between the clan name and these coin-issuing authorities is still debated. The retrograde tamgha on this type is a known diagnostic for the second period classification in Shagalov and Kuznetsov's system, distinguishing it from otherwise similar issues.
