正面描述 Facing or three-quarter bust of a ruler with long flowing hair, turned partially to the right, displaying a crescent moon on the shoulder; a star appears in the left field and a further star in the right field flanking the effigy. The portrait is rendered in the flat, stylised manner characteristic of Chach-Sogdian coinage of the early medieval period. The fields are plain, with no additional inscription on this side.

附加信息

Kanka was a city-state in the Chach region — the Tashkent oasis of present-day Uzbekistan — whose coinage circulated during the period of Sogdian commercial dominance across Central Asia. The Sh&K reference places this within a typological sequence established by Shagalov and Kuznetsov, the primary scholarly framework for Chach bronzes, though individual rulers in this series often remain unidentified due to the degraded or entirely unintelligible Sogdian inscriptions on surviving specimens.

Dating to the two centuries bracketing the Arab conquest of Transoxiana, coins of this type were likely still in local use well after Islamic administration nominally took hold.
