The Principality of Chach occupied the Tashkent oasis during the period when the region was caught between competing Turkic and Tang Chinese spheres of influence, with Arab expansion pressing from the southwest. The tudun was a Turkic administrative title denoting a governor or viceroy — its appearance on local coinage reflects the hybrid political arrangements that characterized Sogdian and Chionite successor states in Transoxiana. Satachari is one of several named tuduns known from this series, though the historical record connecting these names to specific rulers remains fragmentary.
