Kabarna was a small Sogdian-influenced urban center in the Chach region — the Tashkent oasis — where local rulers issued bronze coinage in the name of overlords they may never have met in person. Thun Jabgu Khan was a Western Türk qaghan whose authority over Chach during this decade was real but administratively loose, exercised through a network of tributary city-lords rather than direct administration. The regular tamgha without moon distinguishes this die grouping from related Kabarna issues and carries specific cataloging weight in Shagalov and Kuznetsov's typology of Chach bronzes.
