Beschrijving keerzijde Faint and worn traces of one or more elephants are discernible in the field, rendered in the schematic style characteristic of Mathura dynastic copper issues of the 1st century BC. The surface is heavily worn, with the overall design largely obscured by corrosion and circulation wear, though the outline of the elephant motif remains partially visible.

Aanvullende informatie

The Datta dynasty of Mathura remains poorly documented in the numismatic record, and Kamadatta is known almost entirely through his coinage rather than through textual sources. This is not unusual for the region — Mathura in the final centuries BC was a revolving door of local rulers operating between the retreating shadow of the Mauryas and the arriving pressure of the Kushans, most leaving no inscriptions and no court histories.

Attribution to Kamadatta specifically rests on the coin legend alone.
