| Obverse description | Armored and draped bust of Stefan Batory facing right, wearing a jeweled crown with cross atop, the king depicted with a short beard and moustache in Renaissance portrait style. The effigy divides the circular Latin legend at the base of the coin. The portrait is rendered in high relief typical of late 16th-century Polish hammered coinage, with fine detail in the crown's ornamentation and the king's collar. |
