Additional information

The 1767 trojak from Kraków arrives at a moment when the Commonwealth was already hemorrhaging sovereignty — the same year Catherine the Great effectively dictated the terms of the Repnin Sejm, forcing through legislation that entrenched Russian interference under the guise of protecting religious minorities. Poniatowski, elected king in 1764 largely through Russian backing, was minting coins while having almost no independent policy to mint them for.

Kopicki 2275 is among the documented varieties for this type. The Kraków mint's output in this period was modest, and survivors in better than Fine are not plentiful.
