The 1767 trojak falls squarely in the period when Poniatowski's reign was being systematically hollowed out by Russian interference. That same year, Ambassador Repnin orchestrated the Sejm under military intimidation, forcing through the guarantee of Russian oversight over Polish constitutional affairs — an event that effectively subordinated the Commonwealth's legislature to Catherine II. Coins continued to be struck at Kraków as if governance were normal.
Kopicki 2283 is a scarce variety. The Kraków mint's output for this denomination in 1767 was limited, and survivors in better condition are infrequently offered.
