Reverse description The reverse displays a four-line Latin inscription in bold hammered lettering filling the central field, reading the denomination and issuing authority. Beneath the inscription, the date is divided by the crowned arms of the city of Gdańsk — a shield bearing a black cross (Maltese-style) surmounted by a mural crown with two crosses — flanked by the numerals of the year of issue, here 1539.
