附加信息

August III ruled the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth as an absentee monarch, spending the majority of his reign in Dresden rather than Warsaw, and Gdańsk operated its mint with considerable municipal autonomy throughout his tenure. The trojak — a three-groszy piece — had been a workhorse denomination in Polish circulation since the sixteenth century, and Gdańsk's issues of the early 1760s came during the final years of a reign already destabilized by Saxon-Polish dynastic friction and the opening pressures of what would become the Seven Years' War spillover into the region. August III died in October 1763, making the latest-dated pieces from this run coins of a dying administration.
