Sigismund III Vasa's trojak series of the 1590s was produced across multiple Polish mints simultaneously, and Wschowa — a smaller mint operating under municipal privilege — was among the more inconsistent producers of the type. The Lewart arms on the obverse reflect Sigismund's use of the Zebrzydowski family device, a political accommodation to powerful Małopolska magnates whose support he needed during ongoing tensions with Swedish dynastic claimants.
The Iger reference W.95.3a-d grouping covers several die marriages for this date and mint, meaning specimens vary more than the catalog number implies.
