| Beschrijving voorzijde | Three acorns arranged in a triangular grouping, their caps and stems rendered in relief against a plain field. The acorns, a civic emblem of Mantinea referencing the sacred oak groves of Arkadia, are disposed with one acorn above and two below, forming a compact triskeles-like composition. The partial inscription ΜΑΝ, an abbreviated ethnic for the Mantineans, appears in the field. The flan is irregular and the style archaic, consistent with small Peloponnesian fractional silver coinage of the late fifth to early fourth century BC. |
