| Obverse description | Facing protome of a roaring lion in high relief, depicted with a stylized mane rendered in striated detail radiating from the neck and face. The lion's open jaws reveal a prominent tongue, and a characteristic globule or wart is visible on the forehead between the eyes, a hallmark of Lydian royal coinage. The surface of the flan is irregular and granular, consistent with the primitive striking technique of early electrum coinage. The design occupies the full field of the bean-shaped flan with no legend or border. |
