Troezen's coinage output was always modest — a small polis with limited mint activity, producing fractions primarily for local exchange rather than regional trade. The tritartemorion, three-quarters of an obol, is among the smallest denominations struck anywhere in the ancient Greek world, and Troezen's version sits at the extreme low end of that range by weight.
The decade of this issue corresponds roughly with the period of Theban hegemony following Leuctra in 371 BC, when Spartan power across the Peloponnese collapsed and smaller communities like Troezen briefly navigated unusual political independence.
