Beschrijving voorzijde Draped bust of the nymph Arethusa facing right, her hair bound in a sphendone and adorned with a simple necklace, rendered in low relief within a circular incuse field. The facial features, though worn, retain the characteristic archaic-transitional style of Syracusan small silver coinage. The abbreviated ethnic legend ΣΥΡΑ appears in the field, identifying the issuing city. The entire design is enclosed within a beaded border.

Beschrijving keerzijde A centrally placed octopus depicted with its mantle uppermost and eight tentacles radiating and curling outward symmetrically across the field, rendered in bold relief characteristic of Syracusan fractional coinage. Three pellets, serving as value marks denoting three onkiai, are distributed around the creature in the field. The design is executed in the compact, stylized manner typical of small-denomination Sicilian silver of the late fifth century BC. No legend or border is present.
